This is the most minimalist a mirrorless camera has ever been
It is so minimalist that it does not even have an SD card slot

What if a camera could strip away the unnecessary and leave only what truly matters? Sigma's latest offering, the Sigma BF, embraces that philosophy with a clean, minimalist approach.
The new 24.6-megapixel full-frame camera is a striking departure from traditional digital cameras, featuring only four control buttons and a single dial, all housed within a sleek aluminium body.
The BF eliminates a memory card slot in favour of a built-in 230 GB SSD, capable of storing up to 14,000 JPEGs or 4,300 RAW files. A USB-C port allows for charging and file transfers. Its back design is sparse, with a 3.2-inch touchscreen, three haptic touch controls, a settings dial, and a secondary display to prevent clutter.
Sigma has redesigned the user interface, simplifying navigation and focusing on essential controls. The live preview highlights shooting settings like shutter speed, aperture and ISO, while less frequently used options remain hidden in a separate menu.
For creative flexibility, the BF includes 13 distinct colour modes, from standard and rich to more artistic tones like warm gold and monochrome. The camera also supports 6K video at 29.97 fps, allowing up to 2.5 hours of high-quality footage.
With a hybrid autofocus system that swiftly locks onto people and pets, Sigma's BF brings a fresh touch of simplicity in digital photography. Compatible with L-Mount lenses, the BF is priced at $1,999, excluding a lens. Available in black or silver, it is expected to start shipping in April this year.
