Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan returned to Bangladesh on Wednesday morning, just hours after their crushing defeat to South Africa in the ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, according to a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) source.
Shakib was back in the Bangladesh XI as captain after sitting out against India due to a left quad injury. But the all-rounder could not save Bangladesh from their third-biggest defeat in World Cups as the Proteas were in red-hot form again.

The Bangladesh captain, who was phenomenal in the 2019 World Cup with 606 runs and 11 wickets, has looked out of sorts in the ongoing tournament, especially with the bat.
The southpaw has scored just 56 runs at an average of 14 in four innings and picked up six wickets.
The all-rounder is likely to join the team in Kolkata on 27 October ahead of the Netherlands clash.
