The death of George Floyd, an African-American black man, at the hands of Police was an extremely traumatic blow to the world. Numerous sportspersons have been vocal about this issue. They have been protesting racism from their own platforms.

Caribbean cricketers including Darren Sammy have been vocal about this issue since the shocking death of George Floyd. He said that he had to face racial abuse during his IPL stint for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He claimed that he was called 'Kalu' by some of his teammates.

"I assumed it meant something else that was uplifting. But every time I was called it, it was me and Thisara (Perera), there was always laughter in the moment.
"... But you could understand my frustration and my anger when it was pointed out to me that it wasn't funny at all," Sammy said.
