Md Jabed Ali’s Journey: From Passion to Profession
When it comes to cricket in Bangladesh, emotions run deep. Whether in rural tea stalls or upscale living rooms, cricket binds the nation like little else.
Standing at the heart of this nationwide passion is BDCricTime—a platform that transformed from a solo passion project into a media empire serving over 17 million followers.
Behind this remarkable rise is Md. Jabed Ali, whose entrepreneurial vision and love for cricket recently earned him a coveted spot among the Top 30 finalists in the Creative Young Entrepreneur (CYE) Award 2025. In 2011, the digital landscape in Bangladesh was still taking shape. But Md Jabed Ali, a young business graduate and die-hard cricket fan, saw a missing link—there was no platform delivering live cricket news in Bangla tailored to local fans.
Driven by that gap, he created BDCricTime. The start was simple: one man, one website, no team—just pure passion. But the impact was immediate. As cricket fever continued to grip the country, fans flocked to this homegrown platform that spoke their language in multiple ways.
By 2014, what began as a fan's initiative had evolved into a business. Jabed monetised the platform through digital channels, setting the foundation for long-term sustainability. Over time, BDCricTime evolved into a full-fledged organisation, employing a 35-member team comprising writers, editors, and correspondents across Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
