Nigar Sultana Joty and Sharmin Akhter Supta have achieved career-best rankings, as confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
After an impressive half-century in a warm-up match against Pakistan, Nigar Sultana Joty continued her fine form with a remarkable 101-run innings in Bangladesh's opening game of the Women's World Cup. Following her maiden ODI century, she scored 51 runs against Ireland, which helped her rise 16 places in the ICC Women's ODI batter rankings.
With 563 rating points, Joty has now reached 17th place, becoming the highest-ranked Bangladeshi batter. In her century against Thailand, she was instrumental in guiding Bangladesh to their highest-ever team total in a 50-over match, posting 271 for 3 wickets.
In the same match, Joty set a new record for the fastest century by a Bangladeshi player, reaching the milestone in just 78 balls, surpassing Farzana Haque. Sharmin Akhter Supta, meanwhile, played a crucial role, remaining unbeaten on 94, helping Bangladesh to a strong total. Following her performance, Sharmin moved up 11 places in the rankings and is now 29th, with 523 rating points.
Ritu Moni played an instrumental role in Bangladesh's dramatic win over Ireland, scoring a career-best 67 runs from 61 balls. Chasing a target of 236, Bangladesh were struggling at 139/6, but Ritu's composed innings guided the team to victory. This performance earned Ritu a 16-place rise in the rankings, and she is now tied for 88th place.
While there have been significant improvements for some players, others have seen their rankings decline. Farzana Haque, who scored 53 runs against Thailand but was dismissed for a duck against Ireland, dropped two places. Despite scoring half-centuries in two matches, she now shares 23rd place with South Africa's Chloe Tryon and Pakistan's Sidra Amin.
Sobhana Mostary and Murshida Khatun also experienced a dip in their rankings, with Sobhana dropping 9 places and Murshida falling by 7. However, players such as Pakistan's Alia Riaz, Muniba Ali, and Ireland's Amy Hunter and Laura Delany saw improvements in their rankings.
Fahima Khatun, who took her first-ever five-wicket haul in ODIs, followed it up with 2 wickets against Ireland. With a total of 7 wickets from two matches, Fahima moved up 3 places to 48th in the rankings. Marufa, after rising 6 places, is now ranked 60th, while Rabea Khan saw a 7-place improvement, climbing to 23rd. However, Nahida Akter, despite her efforts, dropped two places to 12th.
