BCB approves 35% pay rise and revised contract structure for Bangladesh women’s cricketers
According to the BCB’s women’s wing, a total of 15 players have been included in this year’s central contract list—down from 18 last year. The players will now be divided into four categories.
Bangladesh's women cricketers are set to enjoy a significant boost in earnings, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) approving a 35 percent salary hike, alongside increased daily allowances and tour fees, under a newly revised pay structure. The changes were ratified during the board of directors' meeting on Monday and will take effect from July 2025 for a period of one year.
BCB media committee chairman Amzad Hossain confirmed the revisions during a post-meeting press briefing.
"The daily allowance for women cricketers has been raised from 50 to 75 US dollars, while the tour fee has been doubled from 25 to 50 dollars. Players under central contracts will also receive a 35 percent increase in their monthly salaries," he said.
According to the BCB's women's wing, a total of 15 players have been included in this year's central contract list—down from 18 last year. The players will now be divided into four categories, with the new monthly salary structure as follows:
Category A: Tk 1,60,000
Category B: Tk 1,35,000
Category C: Tk 95,000
Category D: Tk 80,000
Captain Nigar Sultana Joty, Nahida Akter, and Sharmin Akhter have been placed in Category A. Category B includes Farzana Hoque, Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun, Marufa Akhter, Rabeya Khan, and Sobhana Mostary. Shorna Akter is the sole cricketer in Category C, while Sumaiya Akter, Fariha Islam Trisna, Rubya Haider Jhelik, Sanjida Akter Meghla, and Nishita Akter Nishi make up Category D.
Several former contracted players—Shamima Sultana, Murshida Khatun, Lata Mondol, Disha Biswas, Sultana Khatun, Dilara Akter, and Shathi Rani—have missed out on this year's list. Pacer Jahanara Alam, who was part of the previous contract but has since moved to Australia, is also absent.
The board further confirmed that any player outside the central contract who represents the national team will receive remuneration equivalent to Category D. Additionally, the national team captain and vice-captain will now receive an extra Tk 30,000 and Tk 20,000 per month respectively.
In a separate decision, the BCB has expanded the women's national contract pool—similar to the first-class structure for men's cricketers—from 30 to 35 players. However, their monthly retainers remain unchanged at Tk 30,000, the same as last year.
