Michael Caine to step out of retirement at 92

Michael Caine is preparing to step out of retirement at age 92 to reunite with Vin Diesel for a sequel to The Last Witch Hunter.
According to Variety, Lionsgate and Diesel's production company, One Race Films, are fast-tracking The Last Witch Hunter 2. Diesel will reprise his role as immortal witch hunter Kaulder, while Caine is expected to return as the 36th Dolan, though his deal is not yet finalized.
Caine last appeared in 2023's The Great Escaper before announcing his retirement, saying he wanted to leave on a high note after decades of acclaimed performances in films such as Alfie, Get Carter, The Man Who Would Be King, and Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy. However, Caine has spoken fondly of Diesel, once calling him "special" and praising his big heart in his autobiography.
The original Last Witch Hunter (2015), inspired by Diesel's Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, was both a critical and commercial disappointment. Yet, the film has gained traction through streaming and home video, developing a cult following. Lionsgate executives say that renewed fan enthusiasm, coupled with advances in filmmaking technology, has paved the way for a more ambitious sequel.
