David Steven Cohen, a multiple Emmy Award-nominated animation and television writer and producer, has passed away due to cancer at the age of 58.
News of his passing was shared on Facebook by longtime friend, animation historian Jerry Beck.
"R.I.P. David Steven Cohen - I just heard that my friend has passed from cancer. He was an accomplished writer, composer, producer - animation lover and friend," Beck wrote.
Cohen was vastly known for his work as the head writer of "Courage the Cowardly Dog", a Cartoon Network series.
Cohen launched his television career in the mid-1980s and over the following decade for live-action comedies like Fox's Mr. President, ALF, Parker Lewis Can't Lose and Living Single.
He also wrote the TV live-action/puppet movie The Wickedest Witch, starring Rue McClanahan.
