If you're someone who gets the jitters before boarding a plane, the movies listed below are definitely not going to calm your nerves. In fact, it might make you double-check the emergency exits, side-eye your fellow passengers, and reconsider in-flight snacks altogether.

From terrifying plane crashes to nail-biting hijackings, these films dive into the chaos and drama of air travel.

Whether you're looking for reasons to cancel your ticket or just want to prepare for the unexpected, here's a roundup of movies that will have you thinking twice before hearing, "Please fasten your seatbelt."

1. Air Force One (1997)

Ever wondered what happens when terrorists hijack the President's plane? Enter Harrison Ford as POTUS himself, who takes matters into his own hands with fists and fury. Packed with high stakes action and a patriotic punch, this film is a wild ride that will make you wish your pilot had Ford's guts.

2. Con Air (1997)

A plane transporting dangerous prisoners is hijacked by the prisoners themselves. With Nicolas Cage rocking a southern accent and a moral compass, this over-the-top action flick is as chaotic as it sounds. Explosions, one liners, and Cage's flowing locks make it a must-watch for action junkies.

3. Final Destination (2000)

A premonition saves a group of teens from a plane crash, but death isn't about to let them off the hook. This cult favorite horror film turns air travel anxiety into full-blown paranoia, with creative (and horrifying) deaths that'll have you questioning every little decision.

4. United 93 (2006)

A deeply emotional retelling of the events aboard United Airlines Flight 93 on 9/11, this film captures the courage and sacrifice of ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. It's not for the faint of heart but stands as a powerful tribute to heroism.

5. Sully (2016)

Tom Hanks stars as captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who landed a US Airways plane on the Hudson River, saving all 155 passengers. This true story is a reassuring reminder that not all crashes end in tragedy—sometimes, heroes emerge.

6. Flight (2012)

Denzel Washington plays a pilot who performs a miraculous crash landing but faces scrutiny when his personal demons come to light. Equal parts thrilling and thought-provoking, this movie explores heroism, accountability, and the weight of responsibility.

7. The Grey (2011)

Surviving a plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness is bad enough, add a pack of hungry wolves to the mix, and you've got The Grey. Liam Neeson leads a group of crash survivors in this intense survival drama that's equal parts action and existential reflection.

8. Non-Stop (2014)

When a hijacker starts sending cryptic messages mid-flight, it's up to air marshal Liam Neeson to uncover the culprit and save the passengers. With twists and tension galore, this thriller will have you holding your breath until the final moments.

9. Alive (1993)

Based on the true story of a Uruguayan rugby team stranded in the Andes after a plane crash, this film explores the harrowing lengths people go to survive. It's not for the squeamish, but it's a powerful story of resilience and human willpower that will leave you questioning your own survival instincts. When the survivors are forced to make unimaginable choices to stay alive, it's a testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder to appreciate every safe landing.

10. Executive Decision (1996)

When terrorists hijack a commercial flight, Kurt Russell and a team of elite operatives must board the plane mid-air to stop them. Packed with tense action and a surprising plot twist, this film will have you glued to your seat. Just don't expect a smooth ride!

11. Society of Snow (2023)

This Netflix film is a haunting retelling of the 1972 Andes plane crash, focusing on the psychological and physical toll the survivors endured. The story dives deep into the mental anguish and survival instincts of those stranded in the freezing wilderness, making it both chilling and inspiring.

12. Snakes on a Plane (2006)

The title says it all. Samuel L. Jackson takes on a plane full of venomous snakes (yes, snakes!) unleashed by a criminal mastermind. Ridiculous and campy, it's a popcorn flick that's as much about the absurdity as it is about the thrills.

Perfect if you're in the mood for some over-the-top action and humor.

13. The Mountain Between Us (2017)

After a plane crashes in the snow-covered mountains, Idris Elba and Kate Winslet must team up to survive. It's a survival thriller with a touch of romance, as the pair battles the harsh elements and learns to depend on each other.
