A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation Selina Hayat Ivy over allegations of corruption.

Although, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed the order on 10 November, the matter came to light today (13 November), according to court sources.

On 6 November, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Neyamul Ahsan Gazi filed a petition seeking a travel ban on Ivy.

The anti-graft body in its plea said they are probing allegations of misusing power, amassing illegal wealth through corruption and irregularities, among others, against Ivy.

"She may try to flee the country to evade justice. Travel ban should be imposed on her to stop her from fleeing the country," the petitioner said.

Attempts were made to contact Ivy for her reaction to the travel ban, but she could not be reached.
