Chhatra Dal leaders among 120 sued over attack on NCP programme in Narayanganj

A case has been filed over an attack on a fruit festival organised by National Citizen Party (NCP) in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj, naming 20 individuals and accusing around 100 unnamed others.
The case was lodged at Rupganj Police Station this morning (7 June) by Al Farabi, joint member secretary of the Rupganj upazila unit of Jubo Shakti, the youth wing of NCP.
Among the named accused are former Rupganj thana joint convener of Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal Maruf Molla, former senior vice president of Narayanganj district Chhatra Dal Sultan Mahmud, General Secretary of Daudpur union Jubo Dal Rubel Pasha and former district Chhatra Dal vice president Mainul Islam Suroj.
Confirming the matter, Rupganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Moktar Hossain said police have already arrested two individuals, Niloy and Raju, who were named in the case, and sent them to jail through the court.
Legal action is underway against the accused, he added.
According to the case statement, the attackers carried out the assault yesterday (6 June) during the NCP fruit festival, using local weapons and firearms. They allegedly vandalised the stage and venue, causing damage worth around Tk2 lakh.
When the organisers attempted to resist, the attackers reportedly beat up the complainant and 5-6 others. They also allegedly looted microphones, sound systems, batteries, and fruits brought for the event, causing additional losses of around Tk4 lakh.
