Most major roads in Barishal city have been submerged following heavy rainfall since yesterday (16 October), resulting in severe waterlogging across the city.

Besides, water levels of five rivers flowing through the Barishal Division have crossed the danger mark, local administration officials said today (17 October).

"Due to the low pressure created in the Bay of Bengal, there has been sudden rainfall. 42mm of rainfall was recorded from 6pm yesterday to 6pm today. Instructions have been given to hoist signal No-1 at the river port," said Barishal Meteorological Office In-Charge Bashir Ahmed.
