The Bogura district administration has exhumed the body of Sabbir Hossain, 14, a student who was killed during the protests led by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement two months after his burial.

Sabbir's body was exhumed following a court order from a graveyard in the Telihata area of Sukhanpukur Union in the district's Gabtali Upazila around 2pm today (16 October) as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of his death.

Executive Magistrate Abu Shahma from the Deputy Commissioner's Office was present at the scene.

"Since Sabbir's family buried the body without an autopsy, the court ordered an exhumation for investigation purposes. The autopsy will reveal the cause of death, and the police and court will take legal action," said Miladunnabi, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonatola Police Station.

According to police, on 5 August, Sabbir Hossain, a class 9 student of Sukhanpukur High School, participated in a celebratory procession with locals following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.

While returning home from the procession, he was stabbed to death in the Shihipur area of Sonatola Upazila.

On 15 August, Sabbir's father filed a murder case with Sonatola Police Station. The case named 20 people, including former MP of Sariakandi-Sonatola constituency Sahadadar Mannan, the former chairman of Sonatola Upazila Minhaduzzaman Liton, and 20-30 unknown individuals.
