"The appointments were approved in consultation with the Supreme Court. A gazette notification may be issued today," the law adviser added.

The announcement comes in light of the the government's preparations to appoint news judges for the tribunal to start the trial of the offenders who were involved in the mass killing of students and innocent people during the July-August uprising.

Justice Golam Martuza was recently appointed as an additional judge of the High Court.

On 8 October, the government appointed 23 additional judges at the High Court, raising the number of judges at the HC division to 101.

On 9 October, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul said the ICT will be reconstituted within a week and the tribunal would be able to start its work in full scale within a month.

With the appointment of 23 additional judges at the High Court, a significant progress was made regarding the appointment of judges in the ICT, he said.
