A crude bomb exploded on the road in front of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in Dhaka this morning (16 June).

Confirming the matter, Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Khalid Mansur said another crude bomb was found unexploded at the spot shortly after the blast.

"Legal proceedings are underway in connection with the incident," he told The Business Standard.

Meanwhile, seven more unexploded crude bombs were recovered from the Dhaka University campus this morning, raising concerns over security in the area.

Earlier on 1 June, an explosion of "crude bomb-looking firecrackers" occurred in front of the gate of the ICT adjacent to Shishu Academy in the capital.

The incident took place hours before the ICT prosecution team filed formal charges against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and two others at the tribunal in a case filed over crimes against humanity during last year's July Uprising.

Today, the blast occurred around the same time as the ICT was holding a hearing on the same case.
