Police said that Khokon is drug addict and he set her mother on fire after she refused to give him money for drugs

A man named Khokon, 40, allegedly poured petrol on his mother Khuki Begum, 65, and set her on fire in Dhunat area of Bogura on Sunday.

She succumbed to her injuries around 7pm as she was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College. 

“Khokon is drug addict and he set her mother on fire after she refused to give him money for drugs. Dhunat Thana police detained him after the incident. However, he denied his involved in the murder, and termed it an accident,” said Gaziur Rahman, additional superintendent of Bogura police.

Khokon was severely injured by the beating of angry locals after the incident. He is currently being treated at Dhunat Hospital under police surveillance.
