A case was filed against 66 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League including its former president Al Nahian Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee on charges of attempting to murder some Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) men on Dhaka University campus around two years back.

JCD central committee's Joint General Secretary Ariful Islam, former general secretary of the DU unit, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aktaruzzaman.

Taking the allegations into cognizance, the court ordered Shahbagh police station to accept the case as 'ezhar' after recording the plaintiff's statement.

According to the case statement, a delegation of the then newly formed JCD committee of the DU went to the camps to pay a courtesy call on the then vice chancellor and proctor on 2 September 2022.

Suddenly, some BCL men equipped with sharp weapons attacked the JCD members when they reached Sir AF Rahman Hall, leaving several including then committee's president and general secretary Sohel and Arif respectively injured.
