The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate allegations of corruption against the former mayor of Narayanganj City Corporation Selina Hayat Ivy, former Noakhali-6 MP Ayesha Ferdaus and former Jashore-4 MP Ranjit Kumar Roy.

According to ACC sources, Ivy hired Dr Abul Hossain as a personal assistant after she was elected as city mayor and he misused power to extort lakhs of taka from CNG and autorickshaw owners. There are 4/5 flats in Narayanganj metropolis in his name.

Besides, Ivy's personal assistant Arif Hossain was posted as a school teacher instead of his post. There were 2 flats in Narayanganj Mahanagar Bar Kol and Water Kol area in the name of her driver. Her two brothers Ali Rezi Ripon and Ahmad Ali Reza Ujjal have been embezzling crores of taka every year in the Narayanganj City's solid waste collection and disposal management project in Siddhirganj region.

She has a huge house with 7 floors in Narayanganj district, she demolished the entertainment club of Narayanganj district and built a market there, occupied 18 acres of land belonging to Bangladesh Railway and built Sheikh Russell Park there.

All these allegations were proven true during the initial investigation so the Anti-Corruption Commission decided to start a public inquiry.

Meanwhile, Ayesha Ferdous accumulated huge wealth through irregularities and corruption by misusing her power. Among her notable assets are multi-storied buildings in Hatia Bazar, 3-storied houses in Bhuiyar Hat, 4-storied market in Pushali Bazar.

Her husband also has a huge amount of cash, money in the bank, cars and various assets including a fishing business. Before 2009 she was an ordinary housewife and had no source of income.

Later in 2023 his wealth increased to Tk4.49 crore and his wife's wealth increased to Tk1.46 crore. His son Rajiv Kumar Roy received 5% commission for each job from each contractor; house in Salt Lake area of India in his own and son's name.

All these allegations were initially proven to be true so the Anti-Corruption Commission decided to begin a public inquiry.
