Violent attack and looting at Chittagong Society Office

A complaint has been lodged against members of the Jubo League for attacking and vandalizing the office of the Chittagong Cooperative Housing Society Limited in the Panchlaish area of Chattogram.

The incident occurred on 7 September around 12pm. On 8 September, the society's manager, Md Mamunur Rashid, filed a case at the Panchlaish Police Station.

In a statement signed by the acting secretary of the society, Md Nurul Islam Mintu, and in the complaint, it is alleged that a group of unruly miscreants attacked the society office on 7 September around 12pm.

The attack was reportedly led by Chattogram Metropolitan Jubo League executive members Ali Ikramul Chowdhury, ALM Misbahul Munir, Md Iftikharul Haque Chowdhury, and Chowdhury Salauddin Akbar, along with several unidentified youths.

During the attack, the society's manager and staff were beaten and forcibly coerced into signing resignation letters. Fake notices of a special general meeting were distributed via newspaper, and false information was spread through group SMS to members.

Important documents and cash were looted, and various inauguration plaques related to the society's development in the Nasirabad residential area were vandalized.

Md Mamunur Rashid stated, ''There was vandalism, obscene language, physical assault, and forced signing of a special general meeting notice, which is beyond my authority.''

The investigation officer from Panchlaish Police Station, Sub-Inspector Ziaur Rahman, confirmed the case, stating that an investigation will be conducted and appropriate action will be taken.
