Govt distributes Tk4.52cr among flood affected people
Around 54,64,167 people have been seriously affected due to the flood and more than 10 lakh families were marooned in 11 flood-affected districts
The government has so far distributed Tk4.52 crore as cash among the flood-stricken people in 11 districts, according to the latest report provided by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief today (30 August).
Under the relief distribution programme, Tk82 lakh has been distributed in Feni, Tk75 lakh each in Cumilla and Noakhali, Tk45 lakh in Sylhet, Tk35 lakh each in Chattogram and Habiganj, Tk30 lakh each in Moulvibazar and Lakshmipur, Tk20 lakh in Cox's Bazar, Tk15 lakh in Brahmanbaria and Tk10 lakh for Khagrachhari district.
In addition to this, 20,650 tonnes of rice, 15000 packets of dry food, baby food worth Tk35 lakh and cattle feed equivalent to Tk35 lakh have also been distributed in the flood-affected districts.

Disaster Management and Relief Advisor Faruk E Azam has already visited the flood-affected areas and relief distribution programme at Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Chattogram and Feni districts.
Meanwhile, necessary instructions have been given to the concerned deputy commissioners of the flood-affected districts to work in a coordinated manner with the coordinators of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, RAB, Police, Fire Services and Civil Defense, medical team and other volunteer organisations, the release added.

The devastating flood caused the death of 54 people including six women and seven children. A total of 567 medical teams are working in the flood-affected areas of 11 districts to provide health care services to the people.
Among the deceased, 14 are in Cumilla, 19 in Feni, six in Chattogram, eight in Noakhali, each one in Brahmanbaria, Lakshmipur, Khagrachari and Moulvi Bazar and three in Cox's Bazar.
The overall flood situation has improved in Sylhet, Habiganj and Chattogram districts, while 486 unions or municipalities under 64 upazilas have been inundated due to flood water.
In order to give shelter to the flood-affected people, the government has opened a total of 3,269 flood shelter centres, where 4,69,687 people and more than 38,000 livestock have taken refuge.
The coordinators of the Anti-discrimination student movement have collected -- some 1,15,105 packets of relief packages -- containing dry food, cloth and water -- which already have been sent to the flood-affected areas through the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), the release mentioned.
Besides this, the armed forces have also disbursed 1,94,285 packets of relief and 19,260 packets of cooked food among the flood-affected people.
