RAB arrests Ju-Jitsu Association general secretary in rape case
The case was filed by a female athlete with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station under the Oppression of Women and Children Act

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two individuals, including Rafiqual Islam Newton, general secretary of the Bangladesh Ju-Jitsu Association, in connection with a rape case today.
Arafat Islam, director of the Legal and Media Wing of RAB, said during a press briefing at the Karwan Bazar media centre, "Rafiqul Islam was involved in forcibly raping and physically torturing female athletes within the organisation."
The other person arrested in connection with the case, filed by a female athlete with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station under the Oppression of Women and Children Act, is named Sumaiya, an athlete affiliated with the organisation.
According to RAB officials, she allegedly assisted Rafiqul in committing the crimes.
They were arrested by members of RAB-12 from the Shah Ali and Mirpur areas of the capital.
Arafat Islam said, "Rafiqul used to record videos and take nude pictures of female athletes. He repeatedly raped them, threatening to distribute the pictures and videos on social media."
"They were hiding to evade arrest. The arrested female athlete has already been transferred to the Sher e Bangla Nagar police station," he said.
During the initial interrogation, they provided details about their involvement in the rapes, he added.
