Bangladesh hits the bottom of Mobile Connectivity Index in the “most improved countries in the Asia Pacific” category.

The country made progress of 3.4 points compared to that in 2016, thanks to increased uploading speeds and bandwidth use, says a study of GSMA Intelligence, a research platform.

Uploading speeds almost doubled and international bandwidth per user increased by a third during this time. Mobile app development rose significantly, too.

Currently, mobile phone and Internet subscribers total 161.77 million and 96.199 million, respectively, in Bangladesh.

Vietnam topped the index of GSMA study titled “The Mobile Economy Asia Pacific, 2019” with a gain of 4.7 points more than that in 2016.

A massive increase in its 4G coverage to 95 percent in 2017 from five percent in 2016 helped Vietnam be at the top.

The Southeast Asian nation also increased its 3G coverage to 90 percent from 77 percent.
