Army men distribute part of their rations among poor in Cox's Bazar

To prevent the outbreak of Covid-19, lockdowns are underway in different districts of the country including Cox's Bazar.
Members of the armed forces have been working relentlessly to implement the 31-point directives issued by the government in this regard.
The 10th Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army is undertaking different humanitarian activities including public awareness programmes to keep Cox's Bazar and four southern upazilas in Chattogram free from coronavirus.

Alongside maintaining discipline in these areas, the Army members are distributing their rations among the poor in Cox's Bazar amid the coronavirus pandemic.
They are also monitoring the people who are supposed to be in isolation or under home quarantine. Also, they are conducting awareness raising campaigns on washing hands, wearing masks, maintaining social distance, among others on a regular basis.
In line with providing food support, the army men are operating medical camps in many places of Cox's Bazar district. Armed forces including army doctors and nurses are working day and night risking their lives to fight Covid-19.
Due to the strict stance of the army men, movement of people on the roads has become very limited.
Almost all of the people who go out for emergencies are interrogated by the army and other law enforcement agencies.
Ignoring the extreme hot weather and rain, the army members are working hard during the month of Ramadan. After having a quick iftar and prayers, they get back to their duty stations.
Major Tanzil, media coordinator of Ramu Cantonment said most of the people who have been forced to live indoors by the lockdown belong to the low-income group.
Various administrative agencies are supporting them with foods. Alongside the government support, the army is delivering a portion of their rations to the doorstep of those people, said Major Tanzil.
"Besides, we are also distributing rations among the poor in some remote hilly areas. The army has always stood by the people during any disaster. This public welfare initiative will continue in the future," he added.
