Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has left hospital and is flying home to the United States following a minor strike in Mexico City, he reportedly told ABC News on Thursday.

He had been in Mexico for the World Business Forum event when he fell ill on Wednesday and was taken to hospital, prompting fears about the health of the 73-year-old scientist and tech entrepreneur.

Wozniak told ABC News in a text that "he felt dizzy in the morning while working on his computer, then had some vertigo and couldn't walk." An MRI later showed he had a "minor but real stroke."

He was unable to speak at the event as planned due to falling ill, ABC News added, citing Wozniak saying he was now en route back to the US after leaving hospital.

The Associated Press reported earlier in the day he remained in hospital as of Thursday morning, having possibly been kept overnight.
