Many people in Indian sub-continent suffer from protein deficit as our cuisine is heavily carb based. On top of that, in our busy lifestyle, we consume unhealthy and junk food throughout the day. Junk food is not helpful at all to keep our energy level balanced, amid business.

And most of this unhealthiest junk food goes to our body through snack we eat every now and then. It is very common to go to the store and come back home with bags full with chips, chocolate bars, processed quick snacks etc. The struggle of avoiding those snacks is real.

On other hand, high protein snacks increase the energy level of our body and good for bones and muscles. TBS picks a list of energy boosting and high protein snacks that are easy to make at home and good for our body.

Trail Mix

Super-simple and delicious snack that is filled with protein. It is a very popular snack worldwide and very healthy and provides sufficient protein to keep you energized throughout the day. For an ideal trail mix you can take almond, peanuts, cashew, pistachio, walnuts, and raisins.  

You can also add some dry fruits and chocolate in the mix.

Roasted Chickpeas

Chickpeas are one of the highest sources of protein. You can make simple, delicious chickpea dish for an evening snack. This one travels well, so you can take it with you to office or on long trips too. Here is a simple recipe of roasted chickpeas:

Chickpeas, cooked 1 cup
Rosemary ½ tbsp
Chilli flakes ½ tbsp
Oregano ½ tbsp
Salt, to taste
Olive oil ⅔ tbsp

Place the chickpeas on a baking tray, and toss it with the remaining ingredients. Then bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about half an hour.

Egg chat

A boiled egg can provide 15% of daily protein requirements. It also provides various vitamins and folic acid for our body. If you do not like eating boiled egg every day, you can spice it up a little bit by adding some chutney, chillies, onions and spices and turn it an egg chaat.
