Quick bites around Dhaka
From frozen yoghurt and churros to doner wraps and seaside snacks, these five spots across Dhaka serve quick, comforting bites perfect for short breaks, sweet cravings and on-the-go indulgence
Sometimes your heart and stomach crave a light treat—something that seamlessly fits into your short walk home, or is perfect for the 10-minute break between bouts of corporate slavery.
Lucky for you, Dhaka is full of places waiting to serve you quick and delicious bites—tangy, spicy, sweet and everything in between.
Today, we bring you a review of such places.
Menchie's
This frozen yoghurt spot is cheerful and colourful. The green-and-pink décor is enough to lift your mood instantly. The yoghurt machine swirls out three flavours: purely tart, vanilla and chocolate.
As for toppings, there is a wide variety of playful options—Koko Krunch, dark chocolate chips, Oreo biscuits, brownies, Turkish barfi and wafer rolls.
The froyo itself is refreshing, with chocolate standing out as the best flavour. The purely tart option, however, should be reserved for brave souls who prefer the raw, tangy flavour of yoghurt; otherwise, vanilla is your safest bet. You can find Menchie's in Gulshan and Banani only.
Yes, it is a sweet-tooth's wonderland, but it can quickly turn into a nightmare if your understanding of portion control is zilch. Each ounce costs Tk80, and it can get rather expensive if you want the full froyo-and-toppings experience.
That said, they also offer some delectable dessert options, among which their bestsellers are the red velvet cream cheese roll and the chocolate brownie. If you're looking for caffeine on a lethargic day, they have you covered, too.
Price: Tk 80 (per ounce)
El Churro
From the moment you step in, it feels like a warm hug on a winter night. Every little detail is whimsical—the stools and benches are shaped like mini churros, and the air smells of cinnamon sugar.
One wall traces fun facts about churros, while the other confidently declares itself 'Churro Paradise', and rightfully so. If I had to describe El Churro in one word, it would be cute.
Their charm extends to the menu as well. You can choose between churro sticks or churro balls, dust them with cinnamon or white sugar, and dip them into dark chocolate, white chocolate or Nutella. They taste phenomenal.
Their specials also include Crisp & Fluff, a delightful option featuring mini churros or mini pancakes with a dip of your choice. We tried it with a triple dip for a tour of the best of all worlds.
They do not neglect beverage lovers either. The Spanish hot chocolate comes highly recommended—it is essentially a cup of cosiness. Their milkshakes follow three fun steps: choose your base, select your mix (the type of chocolate), and finish with a sauce (chocolate, vanilla or strawberry).
El Churro has only one branch in Banani, but they deliver to Banani, Gulshan, Baridhara, Baridhara DOHS, Mohakhali DOHS and Banani DOHS.
Prices:
Set of 3 churros: Tk230
Crisp and Fluff (Mini pancakes): Tk320
Churro balls (Any topping): Tk210 (White/dark chocolate), Tk230 (Nutella)
Filled churro (Nutella): Tk260

Durum
Sometimes you just need a wrap that hits all the right notes—spicy, juicy and easy to eat on-the-go. That is exactly what Durum offers. Their Turkish-style döner wraps are packed with marinated chicken, fresh vegetables and bold sauces, all wrapped in soft, warm flatbread.
Flavours like Peri Peri, Honey Mustard and Mediterranean each bring something unique to the table, whether you prefer a tangy kick, a spicy punch or a fresh, herby vibe.
We tried the Peri Peri wrap, and it was perfectly balanced—spicy but not overwhelming, with juicy chicken and crisp vegetables.
The Honey Mustard leans towards the sweeter side and is comforting. The best part is the size and portioning: the döner wraps are huge, and the fillings almost ooze out with every bite.
Their menu goes beyond these heavenly shawarmas. They also offer meat boxes and loaded fries. If you are looking for something protein-packed and healthy, you can opt for their meaty salad box, The Doner Salad, for Tk 430.
With branches in Banani and Dhanmondi, grabbing a satisfying wrap has never been easier.
Prices:
Honey Mustard doner: Tk350
Peri Peri doner: Tk370
The Doner Salad: Tk430
Durum loaded fries: Tk450
Doner meat box: Tk500
Naval Point
Craving an evening by the seaside, with the wind in your hair and the unmistakable taste of Patenga on your tongue? Naval Point is at your service.
Their menu is simple, affordable and packed with flavour. We tried the mini beach shingara with onion rings, which was truly appetising. Their Patenga peyaju—crispy, spicy lentil-and-onion fritters—will transport you straight to Chattogram. The mutton chop is massive, perfectly seasoned and carries just the right amount of spice.
The crowd favourite, however, is the crab. Their crab bhuna—spicy crab cooked in a thick curry—is the perfect companion to piping-hot luchis, the deep-fried flatbread. Fried crab, Patenga fish toast and loitta fry are equally popular.
To wash it all down, the beverage section does not disappoint. Staying true to its name, the Matha Noshto Lebu Cha is a refreshing lemon tea. Skipping the malai lassi would be a crime, and their hot beverages are well worth ordering, too.
Naval Point has branches in Dhanmondi, Gulshan and Mirpur. Nothing here disappoints, so order away.
Prices:
Mini beach shingara: Tk60
Mutton chop: Tk50
Potenga fish toast: Tk160
Potenga peyaju: Tk60
Malai lassi: Tk80
Coffee Lime
This is not just a juice bar; it is the upgrade your life has been begging for. Ordering is simple—walk up, pick your drink and wait a few minutes. Their extensive menu includes fresh seasonal juices, tangy lemonades, coffees, indulgent shakes, bubble teas and traditional lassi. It is the kind of place you truly appreciate when you are dehydrated, sweaty and exhausted.
We tried their bestselling mint lemonade—perfectly balanced between tangy and sweet—and the sugarcane juice, prepared with impressive hygiene and far superior to typical street versions. New items are worth trying, as they rarely miss. Prices start at Tk40, which feels almost generous.
They are currently offering a cosy winter menu with soups, corn, tea, coffee, momos and combo platters, ideal for chilly evenings. Prices range from Tk50 to Tk200. The thick hot chocolate, available in three sizes, genuinely feels like comfort in a cup.
The Dhanmondi outlet is especially convenient, close to popular eateries and Star Cineplex—making it an easy post-movie stop. With outlets across Dhaka, Coffee Lime is never too far when you need a quick pick-me-up.
Prices:
Mint Lemonade (Medium): Tk70
Sugarcane Juice (Large): Tk90
Hot Chocolate (Regular): Tk80
Thai Soup: Tk80
Chicken Momo: Tk150
The highlight of all five places is their accessibility. With multiple branches scattered across the city, you will not have to trek across Dhaka. So go ahead and enjoy these quick bites around the metropolis.
