International Chamber's Chair Maria Fernanda in Dhaka

Maria Fernanda Garza, chair of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), arrived in Dhaka yesterday on a three-day visit.

During her stay in Dhaka, she will call on Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, meet FBCCI President and business leaders, and hold meetings with ICC Bangladesh Executive Board Members at ICC Bangladesh Secretariat, according to a press release.

She has been elected as the Chair of ICC, HQs in Paris for a two-year term from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024. She is also a part of the group of advisors and leaders of the B20 and the United Nations Internet Governance Forum.

As a distinguished business leader, Maria Fernanda is a staunch advocate for business ethics and serves as a board member for several prominent business organizations.

She currently holds the position of CEO at Orestia, a company specialising in manufacturing home improvement and water solutions, with exports to the USMCA region, Latin America, and Asia.

Maria Fernanda's dedication to business extends to her extensive involvement with the International Labour Organization (ILO). She served as Mexico's Employer Delegate to the ILO Conference for a decade, and she was appointed as the Vice Chair of Employers during the 98th Session of the ILO.

Her passion for enhancing the business landscape propelled her to prominence at a young age. She is a valued board member for numerous leading Mexican business organizations, including COPARMEX, CCE, and ALIARSE, among others.

Prior to her current position as Chair of ICC, Maria Fernanda held the role of Chair of ICC México from 2014 to 2020. Additionally, she served as the Regional Coordinator for the ICC Regional Consultative Group for the Americas from 2012 to 2020.
