Twelve industrialists, including owners of industrial units in heavy, medium, small, micro, cottage, and high-tech industries, were honoured with the "Bangabandhu Industrial Award 2022" for their outstanding contributions.

At the award ceremony on Tuesday, President Mohammed Shahabuddin highlighted the importance of ethical business practices, sustainable industrialisation, and fostering a prosperous Bangladesh in an ever-evolving global landscape.

In the large industries category, Runner Automobiles Ltd secured first place, followed by Zaber & Zubair Fabrics Ltd and BSRM Steels Ltd. Nita Company Ltd has achieved the top position in the medium-scale industries category, with Noman Terry Towel Mills Ltd securing the second spot.

Hazrat Amanat Shah Spinning Mills Ltd, Basumati Distribution Ltd, and Techno Media Ltd won top prizes in the small-scale industries category. Besides, Green Genesis Engineering Ltd has been awarded in the micro-industries category and Shamsunnahar Textile Mills in the cottage industries category.

Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd took first place in the hi-tech industries category, followed by Super Star Electrical Accessories Ltd in second place. Runner Automobiles, Zubair Fabrics, BSRM Steels among 12 industries win Bangabandhu Industrial Award.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin, addressing the gathering at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium, emphasised the critical need to combat corruption and unethical practices within the business community.

He encouraged business leaders and entrepreneurs to stand against these issues and assured them of the government's unwavering support in adverse situations.

President Shahabuddin expressed hope for a 'developed Bangladesh' by harnessing the nation's industrial potential, highlighting the successful transition from traditional to digital platforms. 

He also emphasised the government's commitment to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's smart programs and the new slogan of "Sustainable Industrialization" for a "Smart Bangladesh".

The President urged accelerated socio-economic development and the realisation of "Sonar Bangla", echoing the vision of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He commended the investment-friendly environment in Bangladesh, citing the establishment of 100 special economic zones (SEZ) for attracting domestic and foreign investment.

He also criticised the ultra-profiteering attitude of some businessmen, stressing the need for responsible conduct.

President Shahabuddin acknowledged the vital role of businessmen and entrepreneurs in serving the nation, emphasising the welfare of employees and workers in various industries. He called for the fair treatment of workers and the protection of their rights.

Acknowledging global challenges like the pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the President advised entrepreneurs to consider risks and possibilities, aligning business strategies with national and international circumstances, market demand, and technological advancements.

He encouraged them to adapt to rapid changes in business and commerce through IT proficiency.

The President's address conveyed a message of responsible business practices, emphasising the role of entrepreneurs in shaping a prosperous Bangladesh while navigating global economic challenges.
