Bangladesh women bag bronze in Asian Games cricket beating Pakistan by 5 wickets

Bangladesh women's cricket beat Pakistan in a low-scoring bronze-medal playoff by 5 wickets to bag bronze in the ongoing Hangzhou Asian Games held in Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng cricket field on Monday.  A total of 129 runs were scored for the fall of 14 wickets across 38.2 overs in the match. 

Shorna Akter was the star of the show for the Tigresses. She first ran through Pakistan's lower-middle order, and then she scored useful runs with the bat when Bangladesh's lower-middle order could easily crumble like Pakistan to take the team to the podium. 

Bowling first, Bangladesh restricted Pakistan to 64/9 after their allocated 20 overs. Pakistan lost their first four wickets for only 18 runs in 8.2 overs. There was an 18-run partnership for the fifth wicket but the run rate was always on the lower side. 

Aliya Riaz was the top scorer of the team with 17 runs to her name while the skipper Nida Dar bagged 14 runs.

For Bangladesh, Shorna bagged three wickets for 16 from her four overs. Sanjida Akter Meghla and Nahida Akter bagged a brace each.

Shamima Sultana and Shathi Rani scored 27 runs for the first wicket, getting Bangladesh off to a great start. However, they were quickly dismissed, leaving a score of 30 for 2.

And by the 11th over, Bangladesh was already down to 43 for 4 thanks to Nashra Sandhu's consistent bowling.

Shorna did well for Bangladesh, scoring 14 not out off 33 balls without a four or a six, and winning with ten balls remaining.
