Shokalia is all set to host the largest congregation during this Eid-ul-Azha scheduled to be celebrated on Monday.

Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner Sarwar Murshed Chowdhury, also president of Sholakia Eidgah Maidan managing committee, said the preparations are complete.

Tight security will be put in place to ensure safety of the devotees.

Mashrukur Rahman Khaled, superintendent of Kishoreganj police, said two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will be deployed in and around the Eidgah ground alongside police and Rab.

On July 7, 2016, at least four people, including two policemen, were killed and 12 others injured in a militant attack on a temporary police checkpost near Sholakia Eidgah on the Eid day.

This year, the Eid congregation will commence at 8:30am. Mulana Mohammad Hifzur Rahman, Khatib of Boro Bazar Markaz Mosque, will conduct the congregation.

Two special trains, ‘Sholakia Express’, will operate on Bhairab-Kishoreganj and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj routes on the Eid day to facilitate the movement of Sholakia-bound devotees.

This Eidgah is situated on the northern bank of the Norsunda River. Mannan Dad Khan, former Dewan of Haibatnagar in Kishoreganj, donated 4.35 acres of land through Wakf deeds in 1950 and now the Eidgah has an area of seven acres.
