Chattogram gets 150 coronavirus testing kits from government
BITID team is collecting samples from people’s home and testing them at their biosafety lab in Chattogram's Faujdarhat area
The Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) in Chattogram has started performing corona tests after receiving around 150 coronavirus testing kits from the government on Thursday.
"We have collected samples from 15 people so far using the kits. We are collecting more samples," BITID Director Abul Hasan told The Business Standard.
"The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) told us that they will send more kits," he added.

BITID team is collecting samples from people's home and testing them at their biosafety lab in Chattogram's Faujdarhat area.
"We are sending our team upon receiving calls from the people and collecting samples if the patients show any symptoms of the coronavirus. We are also collecting samples based on suggestions from the doctors," BITID Focal Person Dr Mamunur Rashid said.
Earlier on Wednesday, BITID collected samples from two individuals in Chattogram using the coronavirus testing kits donated by a French organisation, after the government allowed them to use those kits on Tuesday night.
17 samples had been collected from the port city before the handing over of testing kits from the government, 15 of which were sent to the capital's Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research. None of the test results came out positive.
