Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival begins tomorrow

Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF), the first mobile phone-based filmmaking festival of the country will raise its curtain for the 6th time on Friday.

202 films have been submitted to the festival from 41 countries this year, 34 of which have been submitted from Bangladesh, marking the highest number of films ever submitted from the country. 

Total 2,297 people have registered for eight screening scheduled on February 28 & 29. The screening will take place in ULAB's Dhanmondi and Ramchandrapur campuses. 

The festival will conclude with a closing ceremony in Star Cineplex at Shimanto Shambhar.

The journey of DIMFF began in 2015 by Cinemascope, a film based apprenticeship program of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).  

In the year 2017, DIMFF finally became an international festival. The festival includes the screening of films that have been received from around the world and then finally choosing the best films for awards.

This time, the jury panel of DIMFF includes renown journalist and filmmaker Devaki Bist from Nepal, film critic and a writer Sadia Khalid Reeti, independent film and documentary maker Arifur Rahman. 

The jury members have selected 39 films for the screening session, 5 films for the one Minute category and 13 for the competition category. 

The best film in the competition category will get "Cinemascope Best Film" award. The nominated films of this category are – The Conundrum, Distortion, Nostalgia, Sealed deal, Alive and Lily. 

The best film of One Minute category will get "ULAB Young Filmmakers' award" for which the nominated films are Flower Bag and All Winner.
