According to the case statement, Maisa Mowara, a class-II student of Hoybatpur Government Primary School in Parbatipur upazila wrote a letter to the deputy commissioner to close brick kilns, mentioning various health issues including asthma.

The picture of the letter went viral on Facebook and then local administration found the unlicensed brick kilns had been operating with fake HC permits, where the signatures of the concerned judges had been forged.

An HC bench of Justice Md Ashraful Islam and Justice Mohammad Ali had taken an initiative to finalise the hearing of a separate writ mentioning the concerns of the young student Maisa.

Later, the court ordered to scrutinise the documents and found that they were faked.

The superintendent of police of Dinajpur, Rangpur, and Nilphamari were directed by the court to file cases against the illegal brick kiln owners on April 30. A total of 31 brick kilns were found in violation.

Police filed the case against the 31 officials of 29 brick kilns on June 20, though they secured bail. Monday was their first hearing upon  expiry of their bail.
