Rain washes out Kings-Mohammedan clash

Heavy rain washed out the potentially title-deciding match of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season 2018-19 between runaway league leaders Bashundhara Kings and traditional giants Mohammedan Sporting Club at the Sheikh Kamal Stadium in Nilphamari on Wednesday.

Bashundhara Kings need just one win from their three remaining matches to secure their maiden BPL title.

Earlier, Sheikh Russel KC gave the Kings their first taste of defeat of the season on July 19. Uzbek striker Alisher Azizov scored the 52nd-minute match-winner that delayed the party that was in the works for the Kings.

Despite that defeat, Bashundhara Kings maintained their top spot, now with a return of 58 points from 21 matches, while their nearest rivals and defending champions Dhaka Abahani remain 4 points behind despite playing a game more, for their collection of 54 points from 22 matches.
