Amid a growing concern over the outbreak of Coronavirus, the immigration authorities in the Indian state of Tripura on early Monday refused to allow a Bangladeshi national to enter their country as he visited China two month ago.

The Bangladeshi citizen named Shawkat Ahmed was barred from entering India at around 9am on the day.

However, no signs of Coronavirus were found in his body after doing the required health tests.

Assistant Sub-Inspector of Akhaura international immigration police Morshedul Haq confirmed that there was no signs of Coronavirus in Shawkat's body but that he was sent back on the sole ground that he had visited China recently.

Shawkat hailing from Sahidpur village in Feni Sadar upazila runs an auto parts business in Chattogram. He visited China at the end of November for business purposes. He stayed there for one week.

On Monday morning, he arrived in Agartala via Akhaura International Immigration Check Post in Brahmanbaria for shopping and travelling.

Shawkat told The Business Standard that the Agartala immigration officials have asked him to visit India after one month.

Shawkat went through a health check-up at an open health desk at the check post.
