Nagad awarded for its contribution to digital Bangladesh journey

The Bangladesh Post Office and Nagad have been jointly awarded for their contribution in building digital Bangladesh by providing digital financial services.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal distributed the award on Saturday at the closing ceremony of Digital Bangladesh Fair 2020.

Mustafa Kamal thanked Nagad for its various initiatives and services, said a press release issued by Nagad on Monday.

The number of Nagad entrepreneurs has crossed one lakh in only 10 months of its inception. Its average daily transaction is around Tk100 crore.

Besides, Nagad and Robi Axiata Ltd have taken initiatives to bring 5 crore people under financial inclusion.

Nagad is working to help bring about financial emancipation and solvency for the people, the release read, adding, "To that end Nagad offers the lowest cash-out charge (Tk14. 5 on a cash-out of Tk1,000) along with Tk5 cashback for every Tk1,000 transactions, which proves its accountability towards people."

Director General of Bangladesh Postal Department Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra, and Managing Director of Third Wave Technologies Limited Tanvir Ahmed Mishuk received the awards on behalf of their organisations.

The programme was chaired by Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar while Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Md Nur-Ur-Rahman gave the welcome speech.
