Bus driver Suman, 24, has given confessional statements before a Dhaka court in connection with a gang-rape of a young woman in a moving bus in Ashulia.

Besides, five bus conductors have been placed on 3-day remand each in connection with the incident that took place late on Friday night.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in Dhaka passed the order on Saturday after police produced the accused before the court seeking five-day remand for each.

According to the police, the victim was travelling to Tongi in a minibus from Nabinagar in Ashulia with an acquaintance. Six people, including the minbus helper, tied up the boy who was with the girl and forcibly gang-raped her.

Later, a patrol team of police on the Dhaka-Aricha highway stopped the bus following the screams of the young woman and caught the suspects.

The injured girl was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The woman, hailing from Larmonirhat district, has been living in Narayanganj with her husband as she works in a garment factory there.
