Garment worker killed in Ashulia, husband on the run
Police say preliminary investigations suggest the murder may have been triggered by a family dispute

A female garment worker was murdered in Savar's Ashulia, reportedly following a family dispute, and an attempt was made to burn her body.
The incident took place early today (20 April) at a house in the Tongabari area of Ashulia, and police have recovered the victim's body.
The victim was identified as Roksana Akhter, 28, who lived in a rented house in Tongabari and worked at a local garment factory, according to police.
Police say preliminary investigations suggest the murder may have been triggered by a family dispute. The victim's husband, Md Sohag, has been missing since the incident.
Police said Roksana and her husband, Md Sohag, were living in a room on the ground floor of a five-storey building.
Around 4:30am today, tenants on the second floor noticed smoke and the smell of something burning coming from the ground floor.
When they went downstairs, they saw smoke coming out of Roksana's room. They then forced open the door, extinguished the fire, and informed the Ashulia police.
Upon reaching the scene, police recovered Roksana's body wrapped in a mattress.
Md Kamal Hossain, investigation officer at Ashulia Police Station, told The Business Standard that preliminary information suggests the victim's husband was addicted to drugs and the couple often quarrelled over family issues.
Police suspect that Sohag killed his wife following a dispute and then attempted to burn the body.
The body has been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka for an autopsy. The husband remains on the run, the officer added.
