At least 15 people have been injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League in Noakhali early today.

The clash took place around 9:30am centring the entry to conference centre as the triennial conference of Noakhali District Awami League was scheduled to be held around 11:00am at Shaheed Bulu Stadium.

Some of the injured have been sent to Noakhali General Hospital.

"The activists of the other group have vandalised my banners and did not let my supports enter in the conference venue," said Shahid Ullah Khan, a municipality mayor and a general secretary candidate.

Supporters of the two groups are chanting slogans and bringing out sporadic processions at various places in Noakhali's Maijdee city. As a result, vehicles movement in the city have been halted temporarily.

The law enforcers have been patrolling in the city to control the law and order.

Meanwhile, the first phase of the conference have been finished, reports our Noakhali correspondent.
