As the rushing severe cyclonic storm "Bulbul" might wreak havoc in the coastal areas, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the party has taken massive preparations to stand by the coastal people.

The government is well-equipped to tackle the very severe cyclonic storm "Bulbul" that is likely to cross West Bengal-Khulna coast near the Sundarbans by midnight tonight, he said.

"Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has urged the party leaders and workers to stand by the people in coastal areas to protect their lives and properties," the AL general secretary told a press conference after a meeting with AL sub-committee on relief and social welfare at the party president's Dhanmondi political office here.

Besides, he along with the party's joint general secretaries and organizing secretaries is also monitoring the situation of the approaching cyclonic storm, Quader added.

AL Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary and member secretary the AL sub-committee Sujit Roy Nandi, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain, Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Md Abdus Sobur, Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, Central Working Committee members Advocate Azmat Ullah Khan and Anwar Hossain were present at the press conference.
