Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah said keeping oneself free of corruption is a sign of respect towards the Father of the Nation.

The ACC chief made the remarks while addressing a virtual discussion on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day organized by the ACC on Wednesday.

At the outset of the discussion, the ACC Chairman paid deep tributes to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, the three children of the Father of the Nation who were martyred on August 15, 1975 and all martyrs who lost their lives in 1971 and prayed for the salvation of their souls.

At that time, Mohammad Moinuddin said, "If we love Bangabandhu, we have to follow his ideals as well. Everyone has to fulfill their responsibilities properly from their position to stop corruption. It should be remembered that Bangabandhu has led against injustice all his life."

During the discussion, he told ACC officials that Bangabandhu had a political life against which even his enemies could not make a single allegation of corruption.

He said, "The future will tell how much corruption in the country we could reduce, but today we can be committed to our duties and not do corruption ourselves. By keeping ourselves free from corruption, we will fulfill our responsibility to suppress corruption. This will be a sign of our highest respect for the Father of the Nation."
