On the occasion of International Women's Day, the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA) has distributed certificates for the session on the role of women in the e-commerce industry and for the ICT training course for women trainees.

The event was held at 3 pm in the R-Events Hallroom of Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel in the capital, said a press release issued by BHTPA on Saturday.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen was present on the occasion as chief guest.

During the event, Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said, "Women have now moved forward and are now wandering in every sector. We welcome BHTPA's effort to promote women empowerment and their efforts to build robust women leadership in the country."

e-CAB president Shomi Kaiser said, "There is a huge revolution going on during the period of covid 19. Right now the ecommerce industry is moving forward with a new infrastructure and technology backing it. The contribution of ecommerce in economy has reached up to 60-70 percent, as the digital transactions have increased. Women have sustained themselves in this adverse situation. Our next step right now is to prepare women for the fourth industrial revolution."

More than two thousand women trainees have completed ICT-related training courses conducted under the supervision and financial assistance from Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority.

These training courses will play a regulatory role in providing the necessary manpower to build a digital Bangladesh, the release said.
