The High Court (HC) today issued a ruling asking authorities concerned why the bail granted to Rosy Chisty should not be cancelled.

Rosy Chisty is the wife of Mahbubul Haque Chisty, the former director and chairman of the audit committee of erstwhile Farmers' Bank (now Padma Bank).

A virtual bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Mohi Uddin Shamim Thursday gave 10 days to explain.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) was represented by lawyer Md Khurshid Alam Khan, while Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik and Assistant Attorney General Mahzabin Rabbani Deepa stood for the state.

Rosy Chisty was granted bail on 5 January by the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court. Later, ACC filed a review petition with the High Court on 18 February against the bail order.

Earlier, ACC Assistant Director Mohammad Faisal filed a case against Mahbubul Haque Chisty and Rosy Chisty with the ACC's Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1 on 15 December on allegation of various irregularities.

The allegations, brought against them, are- concealing information about Tk 5.85 crore, declaring Tk 4.30 crore as land advance and foreign loan to Bakshiganj Agro Industries as false and baseless liability, and transferring, displacing and converting assets of Tk37.38 crore.
