CPD to celebrate 50 years of Bangladesh’s independence

The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) will undertake several activities to celebrate the Mujib Barsho and 50 years of Bangladesh's independence, including dedicated events and publications.
This was decided by the Board of Trustees (BoT) of CPD at its 56th meeting in Dhaka on 2 February, read a press release.
During the meeting, the board approved the CPD's plan for research, dialogues, publications and outreach-related activities for January-December 2021.

CPD board also approved the organization's interim accounts statement for July-December 2020 and revised budget for FY 2020-21.
The board further appreciated CPD's research and outreach-related activities during the July-December period of 2020.
Some of the research during this period include Challenges of Policymaking in Times of Pandemic: State of the Bangladesh Economy in FY2020; CPD's Recommendations for the National Budget FY2021-22; Health and Economic Risks of Corona Pandemic and Recommendations; Assessment of Public Policy Interventions and Proposals for Food and Income Security of the Marginalised, etc.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Rehman Sobhan, chairman of CPD.
Ms Khushi Kabir, coordinator of Nijera Kori, Mr M Syeduzzaman, former finance minister, Mr Syed Manzur Elahi, chairman of APEX Group, Ms Rasheda K Choudhury, executive director of CAMPE were present in the meeting.
Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam, former professor of English at the University of Dhaka, Dr Shahdeen Malik, eminent jurist, Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya and Professor Mustafizur Rahman, distinguished fellows of CPD, Dr Fahmida Khatun, executive director of CPD and member-secretary of CPD Board of Trustees. Dr Khondoker Golam Moazzem, research director, and Mr M Shafiqul Islam, director of Administration & Finance of CPD were also present at the meeting on invitation.
