The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has apprehended three persons who allegedly are involved in cheque forgery. The elite battalion recovered 73 photocopies of cheques issued by several banks from a rented house at Panchshil area in Chattogram. 

The copies of the cheques mentioned a total of Tk 12.64 crore. The arrestees are — Kazi Priya Akter Mukta, 44, Jahirul Haque Mridha, 41, and Rezaul Karim, 43.       

Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-7 Md Mahmudul Hasan Mamun said the gang was busted on Wednesday morning.

Moreover, a total of 21 fabricated cheques, 14 blank cheques, 14 photocopies of blank cheques, 213 fake indentures, 32 blank stamps and 5 fake national ID cards were also seized from their possession.          

RAB official Mahmudul said the arrested confessed that they had been conning people for a long. A case was filed with the local police station in the end.
