On December 16, my father-in-law announced the news of victory on loudspeaker at a local school.

After getting the news, I was so overwhelmed that I fainted because I knew I didn't have to fear for the lives of my children anymore and they had better future awaiting ahead of them. My father-in-law distributed sweets among the villagers.

I can't express how terrified I was during the Liberation War because my husband comes from a very prestigious family in their village in Sylhet and they were in the front-line to help the freedom fighters.

My husband and I were in Malanchapur, my husband's village, with our kids. My mother-in-law was very old and had Alzheimer. When the Pakistani military attacked our house, they burnt down everything.

In the chaos, we lost my mother-in-law. Later at midnight, we found her with help from the freedom fighters. Actually, she was hiding in an abandoned field far away from the house. We thought we had lost her.
We kept living in fear for our lives.

Pakistani military once threatened our family to kill my only son for helping the freedom fighters. He was only a 10-year-old boy back then.
