Tamim not fazed by his strikerate in T20 cricket

Tamim Iqbal was unfazed by the criticism regarding his strike rate, stating that only win matters to him irrespective of how fluently or slowly he bats in the game.

His strike rate in T20 cricket overall and one-day cricket was always the talk of the cricket fraternity as many cricket pundits believe he should bat with a higher strike as the modern cricket these days demand more attacking brand of cricket.

But Tamim Iqbal believes, a higher strike doesn't matter if it can't win the game.
"I don't see anything bad in making 30 off 30 balls, if the situation is like that," Tamim Iqbal said here today.
"When we are chasing 150 runs, if three wickets fall then it is difficult to make 30-40 runs from 20 balls. Look at the last match, I was batting at 150 strike rate, I was out for 32 runs again. The innings could have been made bigger if I had taken conservative approach. In that case, we could have won the game," he added.
"Whatever the strike rate or runs, people will always ask questions. There is no problem in this. At the end of the day, if I win the team hitting 40 off 40, it's good. When I lost by making 40 off 15 balls, it was not a good innings."
According to Tamim, the important thing is to give bowlers a handy score to defend rather than looking for the higher strike rate.
"At the end of the day, it was about how I should play in my team. What is more important to me than the strike rate is how long I can stay in the wicket. If I can play for a longer time, it will give us enough chances to make a handy score. It is not a good thing for me to score 30 runs in this team. If I had made 50 off 40-42 balls, we could have scored 130-135 runs instead of 109. So, bowlers would get a chance to defend it. If you are all out for 100-120 runs, there will be no competition."
