The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has elected Muzaffar Ahmed as its new president at the council meeting held on Saturday. 

Previously, he served as the president of the ICSB from 1997-2004.

Ahmed, a cost and management accountant and also a chartered secretary, is the founding president and a fellow member of the ICSB.

He is a well-known personality in the accounting, banking and financial sector in Bangladesh. Starting his career as a university teacher, he served many national and international organisations in different positions.

He is also the founder of CRISL (Credit Rating Information and Services Limited), the first-ever multinational credit rating agency in the country. He is now the president and CEO of the company.

For his outstanding contribution to the development in the financial service sector of Bangladesh, Ahmed was awarded the Financial Mirror Award in 2004 and 2010.

At the same meeting, the council of the institute also elected Mohammad Bul Hassan as the senior vice-president. Before this new assignment, he was a senior vice-president of the ICSB from 2016-2018 and was the treasurer form 2013-2016. 

At present, Hassan is working as the chief financial officer and company secretary of Siemens Bangladesh Limited. 

Md Selim Reza has been elected as the vice-president of the Institute. Prior to this new assignment, he served as the vice-president of the ICSB for the term 2016-2019 and contributed significantly as a council member at the Institute. Reza is a partner at Artisan, a practicing chartered accountants firm.  

The council has also appointed Salim Ahmed as the treasurer of the institute. Previously, he was the council member of the ICSB for the term 2016-2019.

He has been serving as a company secretary at Eastern Housing Limited.
