ICSB President Hossain Sadat appointed BSEC commissioner
Hossain Sadat will serve as a BSEC commissioner for four years from the date he assumes office.
The government has appointed Hossain Sadat, the current president of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB), as a commissioner of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) for a four-year term.
The Financial Institutions Division (FID) under the Ministry of Finance issued a notification yesterday (27 July) announcing the appointment. According to the notice, Sadat will serve for four years from the date he assumes office.
According to a BSEC press release, Hossain Sadat is a seasoned corporate leader with nearly three decades of cross-industry experience spanning telecommunications, oil and gas, and audit and assurance. Prior to this appointment, he held senior leadership positions at prominent organisations, including Grameenphone, Shell Oil and Gas, Cairn Energy, and KPMG Rahman Rahman Huq.

The press release said, Sadat is a qualified Chartered Secretary and has also undertaken executive education at the London Business School. He currently serves on the board and council of the Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) and the Corporate Secretaries International Association (CSIA).
The BSEC stated that the appointment of Hossain Sadat completes the full structure of the commission's board of commissioners.
"The commission expects that his extensive professional experience and expertise in capital markets, corporate governance, regulatory activities, and institutional capacity building will play a vital role in making the Commission's activities more dynamic, effective, and modern," the regulator added.
The leadership overhaul at the BSEC follows the recent restructuring of the commission under the BNP-led government, aimed at restoring market discipline and investor confidence through the appointment of skilled, non-political professionals.
