US Embassy marks US Constitution Day at Dhaka University
Ambassador Brent T Christensen highlighted debate, consensus, separation of powers and judicial independence at the event.
The US Embassy in Dhaka marked US Constitution Day at Dhaka University today (17 September), with US Ambassador Brent T Christensen joining Law Minister Mohammad Asaduzzaman and Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Abdus Salam at the university's Senate Hall.
Constitutional experts, academics and students also attended the programme, according to a US Embassy press release.
In his speech, Ambassador Christensen highlighted the role of constant debate and the continuous search for consensus in shaping a resilient US Constitution.

He also pointed to the Constitution's emphasis on the separation of powers, judicial independence and the ability to add amendments, saying these features have helped make it resilient and inspired democracies around the world for more than 200 years.
The programme included a public ceremony, a panel discussion, an essay competition, a quiz contest and an American Founders Museum exhibition.
